Fashion and Accessory Trends Summer 2022

I always like looking at what’s trending at the beginning of each season but I'm especially excited for summer style. It's definitely more fun than winter shopping where I mostly covet cable knit sweaters and flannel. Of course there are trends I’ll be passing on (I’m looking at you crop tops!) but the ones I’ve included below I’ll be happy to try!

 Summer Trends 2022

Cut out patterns are really popular and they definitely add a fun twist to dresses and tops. I like the unique look but I’m drawn to a subtle pattern with more rather than less material. :) This one from Banana Republic appeals to the aspiring minimalist in me.

Big oversized totes are back (but if you’re a Mom did they ever go away?) The one pictured is from Madewell and it checks all the boxes. It’s definitely big and roomy, it’s a classic silhouette and the warm brown tone is versatile and a nice change from basic black for the summer.

In keeping with the oversized theme, extra large sunglasses are trendy again. These tortoise shell ones from Nordstrom are chic and the price is right – just $19. Perfect for anyone like me who always seems to lose at least a pair a summer!

Put a fringe on it! From handbags to skirts they’re popping up everywhere this season so why not on jewelry too? These dainty sterling silver dangle earrings have lots of shine and swing and they’re lightweight and comfortable to wear.

Barely there sandals are perfect for hot humid summer days and this understated neutral pair can easily be dressed up or down. They’re a bit of a splurge from Net-A-Porter but I love the style and the braided suede straps.

There’s a look or a vibe that's currently trending that’s being described as coastal grandmother (think Diane Keaton in Something’s Gotta Give). Linen, bucket hats, button down shirts and casual cashmere pieces – now that's a style I can get behind because comfort seems front and center! It seemed appropriate to look to J Crew for this trend and I picked a boxy neutral sweater that looks super comfy and perfect for chilly summer nights.
